10 of the coolest things to find at The Hemp and Cannabis Fair, held on Nov. 4 and 5 at the Oregon State Fair Grounds and Exposition Center. Abby Luschei
As Jonah Hill once said, “Weed is tight.”
Marijuana took the spotlight at The Hemp and Cannabis Fair going on Nov. 4 and 5 at the Oregon State Fair Grounds and Exposition Center.
Now, as someone who considers herself uneducated in the weed department, the THC Fair was an exciting and enlightening experience.
One thing that surprised me is that a majority of vendors were selling hemp products, which have very little or no THC. Instead, they contain CBD or Cannabidiol.
I won’t get into the logistics only to say that THC is psychoactive and gives you the high, whereas CBDs medicinally interact with the body and do not alter the mind as much as THC does.
My purpose was to go to the THC Fair and find, for lack of a better word, the dopest things I could whether they were directly related to weed or not.
For better or worse, here are my finds:
Whole Circle Farm’s CBD Hemp Lotion
Peter and Rochelle Koch, owners of Whole Circle Farms, specialize in family farmed hemp CBD essentials in Oregon.
Out of the variety of products they had, the Hemp CBD Lotion intrigued me. They say it soothes arthritis and pain, and all you do is rub it on the part of your body that is bothering you and wah-la, it’s gone.
Hippie Roots Essential Oil Necklace
Mimi Rotella owns Hippie Roots where she makes hand-crafted hemp products in Estacada, Oregon.
One product, that she makes with her sister Molly George, are essential oil necklaces. They have lava rocks inside, which is supposed to give the wearer good vibes all day long when combined with essential oils. You can use whatever essential oils you prefer, and the lava rock is washable.
Hippie Roots Hemp Soap Bars
Rotella also makes hemp-based soap bars. They are vegan-friendly, non-GMO, and hypoallergenic. The labels are also made of recycled paper bags and black ink.
Don’t throw the wrapping because it is hemp wick, which you can use to light candles and such.
Lady J Arts Jewelry
Jessica Prince, the owner of Lady J Arts, makes all the jewelry herself in Talent, Oregon. She said that it was an expensive rock hobby that ended up turning into a full-time job.
Prince displayed hand-made rings, necklaces, bracelets, and other jewelry at the fair.
Helios Heat Pad
This product contains no hemp or cannabis, but it can help with pain.
These are reusable heat pads that consist of salt water, vinegar, and a titanium coin. To use, you crack the coin, and a chemical reaction causes it to heat up.
The smaller pads can last about three years, and the larger ones around five.
Trippy Hippie Smoke Shop UV Light Glass Works
Trippy Hippie Smoke Shop is located in Beaverton, Oregon, and had a variety of bongs, pipes, bubblers, and more glass work at their table. However, some of their pieces were more than meets the eye.
Every glass product looks normal, but when some go under UV light, they transform into a vibrant, neon masterpiece.
Jinxproof Genetics Glass Blown Original Bongs
Jinxproof Genetics is primarily a seed company, but they also blow glass and create original water pipes.
They featured some hand-made glass bongs that were spill proof, because who wants nasty bong water anywhere but inside their bong?
Emerald Valley CBD Dog Treats
Humans don’t get to have all of the fun. Hemp CBD treats for furry friends are a thing.
Craig Taras, of Emerald Valley CBD, said that these treats are great for hyperactive dogs or dogs with health issues like seizures or hip problems.
Ancient Earth Designs Wood Water Pipes
Ancient Earth Designs specializes in hand-crafted wood water pipes created from century-old reclaimed wood from around the world, built in the Pacific Northwest by Eric Henry.
All bowl pieces are removable and standard size, so if one breaks a trip to the local smoke shop can fix it in a jiffy.
The “Original Gandolf” Pipe
Andy Eggleston, owner and artist of Starfish Designs, is the home of the “Original Gandolf” pipes. Their long shape makes them unique.
Eggleston also creates a variety of hand-crafted borosilicate art glass.
